Resting HeartRate – Overall Fitness Indicator?

I’ve been doing some research lately on resting heart rates and how that relates to overall fitness.  What I’ve found is that just like most things out there, the camp is divided.  Some believe that it is a very good, maybe even the best indicator of overall fitness.  Some believe that while it is useful, [...]

When is it time to get a bigger kettlebell?

This is a question that is often asked on the Dragon Door forums. Lots of people will weigh in with their suggestions, mainly revolving around already being able to hit certain goals with the KBs already in one’s possession. The impetus for moving to a bigger kettlebell is to give the muscles more work to [...]

June 10

Well, I’m not starting too well.  Just got back from out of town; unfortunately it wasn’t a vacation.  More on that later.  As such, today is my first real day.  Its amazing that the last 2 months of me not working out and the amount of strength (either real or perceived) I lost.

Anyway, today was my 1st day back on C&P’s and Swings.  My calendar is one behind Matt’s.  Its actually nice for me as I can quiz him on his day’s activities before I actually do them.  O’ and by the way, I felt like a little girl and not a girevik…

Friday was day 4 and it was the same workout as Tuesday, with the only difference being 15 seconds of rest between sets of swings vs. 30 seconds on Tuesday. I felt pretty good throughout it, but couldn’t do 45 seconds of swings with only 15 seconds of rest. So I did 30 seconds on, 15 off and got through it.

Saturday was an easy five mile run.

Today was SFP2.0, according to the schedule. Mission accomplished.

Today I also decided to start keeping track of my weight so I can start to measure my progress. Today I was 177.4lbs.

June 4

Yesterday was one of my off days, so I took it off.

Today was SFP2.0, using the 16kg for ten minutes of 15:15 protocol snatches. That’s not too bad, as I have gotten up to 20+ minutes doing those snatches with the 16.

June 2

Ok, I got after it today. I did the workout according to the plan. Three sets of clean and press (ten reps per set) with the 16kg bell.

Then I did six minutes of swings. If you look at the training schedule, you will see it says “per dice.” We roll the dice to see how long we will do swings. I do 20 swings in 30 seconds, then take a 30 second rest. I felt pretty good.

June 1

Monday, June 1 was to be the first day of the new Plan. I did not actually work out today.

I am not getting off to a good start.
